These are the most effortless Sweet & Sour pork chops you will ever have to make in less than 30 minutes from start to finish.Â
Unlike the traditional Sweet and Sour recipes, this one however is a little bit different when it comes to cooking the meat. No coating is needed for the meat, as well as deep frying. Quick & Easy right?!!
So to fry the pork chops, we only use a little bit of oil in browning the meat. And as much as possible, we use less of it, since all that extra oil is simply not needed for this Fat-Free recipe.
Can you use pork chops for Sweet & Sour Pork?
YES, it can be used in making sweet and sour pork. Pork chops are a popular cut of meat, and can be served with a variety of side dishes making them versatile and delicious meal options.
In this recipe, you’ll be cooking up juicy, tasty, and flavorful pork chops that are smothered with sweet & sour sauce made from ingredients such as vinegar, soy sauce, and sugar.
What are the ingredients to make this recipe?
- Pork Chops. Preferably thin cut.
- Garlic. Enhances the flavor and makes the pork chops tastier.
- Pineapple. 1 can of chunks (or sliced then cut into pieces). Reserve the juice for tenderizing the meat when cooking
- Bell Peppers. Red and Green or whatever is available to you
- Carrots
- Onions
Sweet & Sour Sauce
- Water or Broth. (Chicken broth)
- Rice vinegar or white wine vinegar
- Soy sauce. Reduced sodium or light soy sauce
- Ketchup
- Brown sugar
- Cornstarch. For thickening the sauce
- Ginger

How to make Sweet & Sour Pork Chops
- To make the sauce, combine all the sauce ingredients in a small dish.
- Trim the pork of any visible fat.Â
- Cut the peppers, carrots, and onions. Cut the pineapple if not using chunks, then mince the garlic and ginger. Set aside.
- Coat a large nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Then preheat the stovetop over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and pork chops, and sear for 5-6 minutes on each side.
- Add the juice to the pork mixture and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 6-8 minutes or until the pork chops are tender.
- Add pineapple chunks, carrots, and onions, cover, and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Stir the sauce to mix and add it to the skillet then add in the peppers.
- Cook and stir constantly until the sauce is thickened and bubbly.
We usually serve this Sweet & Sour Pork chops over rice.Â
Fat-Free Cooking Tip:
- To brown meat, chicken, or vegetables with nearly NO added FAT, spray a thin film of nonstick cooking spray over the bottom of the skillet. Then preheat the skillet over medium-high heat and brown food as usual.
- Just in case the food starts to stick, add a few tablespoons of water or broth, but if you are using a nonstick skillet and nonstick cooking spray, then it should not be necessary to add any liquid at all.
- Whereas, the traditional method of browning foods requires oil or butter. Indeed, some recipes recommend several tablespoons of oil for browning. However, all the extra oil is simply not necessary especially in this recipe.

Easy Sweet & Sour Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 1 lb Pork Chops or 5 pcs thin cut
- 4 cloves Garlic - minced
- 1 medium Green Bell Pepper - cut into cube
- 1 medium Red Bell Pepper - cut into cube
- 2 Carrots - cut diagonally
- 1 medium Onion - cut into squares
- Oil for brushing the skillet or nonstick cooking spray
Sweet & Sour Sauce
- 1/4 cup Water or Chicken Broth
- 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar or White Wine Vinegar
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (reduced sodium)
- 2 tbsp Ketchup
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Ginger (minced)
Instructions
- To make the sauce, combine all the sauce ingredients in a small dish. Set aside.
- Trim the pork chops of any visible fat and membranes. Pat and dry with a paper towel. Set aside.
- Drain the juice from the pineapple, reserving the juice, and cut the pineapple if not using chunks.
- Cut the peppers, carrots, and onions . Minced the garlic and ginger, set aside.
- Coat a large nonstick pan or skillet with cooking spray, or brush thinly with oil and preheat over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and pork chops and sear for 5-6 minutes on each side. Add the juice to the pork mixture and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 6-8 minutes or until the pork chops are tender and cooked through.
- Add the pineapple chunks, carrots, and onions to the pork mixture. Cover and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Stir the sauce to mix, and add it to the skillet, then add in the peppers. Cook, stirring constantly until the sauce is thickened and bubbly.
- Serve hot, accompanying the dish with rice.
