This salad is fresh and flavorful that is perfect for any occasion. It is made with crisp, refreshing lettuce that is cut into bite-sized pieces. The lettuce is then tossed with a delicious combination of toasted sesame, sunflower seeds, and almonds.

The sesame dressing is a key component of this salad. It adds a tangy and savory flavor that perfectly complements the natural sweetness of the lettuce. 

Here’s what we need to make this Crunchy Lettuce Salad

  • Romaine Lettuce or a bag of Romaine Salad: I’m using romaine lettuce because it has a crisp texture and mild, refreshing flavor that pairs well with other salad ingredients. Since I have a bag of romaine salad, I used it.
  • Sesame Seeds: These small and firm seeds have a hard outer shell that gives a satisfying texture when eaten. When toasted sesame seeds become even crunchier and develop a nutty, savory flavor that can add depth and complexity to a salad.
  • Sunflower Seeds: These are also crunchy because they have a hard outer shell that gives a satisfying texture when eaten. Especially when toasted, sunflower seeds enhanced their nutty flavor and add even more crunch to the salad.
  • Almonds: This type of nut is relatively firm and has a hard outer shell, giving s satisfying crunch when eaten. It provides a healthy source of fats, protein, and fiber making it a nutritious addition to the salad.
  • Sesame dressing: This dressing perfectly compliments the nutty flavors of the seeds and almonds, while also adding a touch of sweetness and tanginess to the salad. Store-bought or homemade Asian sesame dressing can either be used.

Crunchy Lettuce Salad ingredients

 

How do we make this Crunchy Lettuce salad with sesame dressing

  • Roast sesame, sunflower, and almonds at 300 degrees F for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Chop lettuce into bite-sized pieces, then place in a salad bowl. Then add the seed mixture to the bowl.

 

  • Toss the salad mixture with sesame dressing, salt & pepper to taste. Garnish with onions. Serve & Enjoy!

 

Overall, this salad is a delicious & healthy way to add some texture and flavor to your meal. It’s easy to prepare and can be served as a side dish or main course, depending on your preference.

If you want to make your own Sesame dressing, here are my ingredients.

  • 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar and soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey and sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  1. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until golden brown about 5 minutes.
  2. In a mason jar, add all the ingredients and shake until well combined. Add salt and pepper, taste the dressing, and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  3. Serve or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

No need to roast your sesame & sunflower seeds, or almonds if the one that you bought is already roasted.
